Pandeymonium – Creating ads that move us and shake us up

“I don’t love process, I love chaos”— thus began a full-house session on Pandeymonium on the last day of Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest. A river of repartees surfaced as Anuja Chauhan, author, quizzed Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman & National Creative Director Ogilvy & Mather India , on his recently released book, Pandeymonium, making advertisements and being a veteran ad guru—to which he jovially replied ‘I am ad shuru’.

 

Pandey shared humble instances from his life, both personal and professional, that made him who he is! Of relationship with clients, the stalwart said, “Only good work helps in maintaining relationships. Clients will allow to fail, but just once. That is the only magic of relationship.”

 

Chauhan, herself an advertiser, enquired Pandey about the many worthy narratives from his life—maintaining the trust of clients and of open-hearted chats with his barber that gives him the real picture of life at large; which allows him to understand life from a very different and honest perspective.

 

As questions poured in, Pandey shot a volley of anecdotes that got the crowd laughing and cheering him on for his deep yet frank remarks on advertisement. “It is the question of who can hold interest for a longer time. Everything depends on the quality of an idea.”
